Utilizing Social Media

Social media is a great way to stay connected and communicate with people.  It not only allows you to directly interact with other users, but also express your thoughts and opinions to others who follow you.  For groups such as the one I’m apart of, GVSU Formula Racing, social media is key to staying connected with the people who follow us.  By consistently updating our social media pages, such as Instagram and Twitter, we are able to keep our followers updated.  These pages are also important to keep updated so that when people want to look us up or learn a little more about us, they can easily find our social media.

One of the hardest parts of social media is being consistent.  It is important to make sure you are constantly putting out content to keep people interested.  There is nothing worse than having a social media account that is never updated.  If all of the posts are old, noone is going to want to follow you since they do not think you post anything.  Whether it be you don’t have any new photos to post or you just forget, it can be hard to keep posting every week.  Luckily, there are 3rd party sites that can help you to stay consistent and plan ahead so you always have something to post!

The website that I like to use is called Tweetdeck.  This website allows you to pre-write out tweets that you know you want to send out, but allows you to pick the time and date that they get posted.  If I know that we have an even coming up, I would normally want to post about it at least 3 times to keep it in people’s feeds.  Sometimes it is hard to remember to post this many times, but with Tweetdeck I can pre-write out all the tweets and it sends them out for me!  This is such a great tool and I think that everyone who struggles to post consistently should give it a try.

This is what some scheduled tweets look like on Tweetdeck.
